Gov. Evers Announces Transportation Projects Commission to Meet December 6
Three, new citizen members appointed to the bipartisan public-private commission
MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today announced that Wisconsin’s bipartisan Transportation Projects Commission (TPC) will meet on Fri., Dec. 6, 2019, from 1:30 pm to 4 pm in the Governor’s Conference Room at the Wisconsin State Capitol. This meeting will provide an opportunity to update the TPC on the status of projects enumerated for construction and projects that are under environmental study.
“The state budget we approved earlier this year includes long-overdue investments in our transportation system,” Gov. Evers said. “The TPC serves a vital role in fostering stronger communication between the Legislature, transportation stakeholders, and the public about major highway projects, and I look forward to seeing the collaborative work of the TPC as we work to improve our transportation infrastructure across the state.”
Created in 1983, the TPC includes the governor, 5 state senators, 5 assembly representatives, and 3 citizen members, who review and make recommendations regarding major highway projects. The governor serves as the commission chair and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) secretary serves as a non-voting member.
Gov. Evers recently appointed 3 citizen members to the TPC:
- Mark Servi, Barron County Highway Commissioner
- Allison Bussler, Waukesha County Public Works Director
- Tim Hanna, Mayor of Appleton
“Transparency, accountability, and communication are among our agency’s top priorities,” WisDOT Secretary-designee Craig Thompson said. “Restarting the TPC process is an important part of how the agency provides the governor, state lawmakers, and citizens the opportunity to provide crucial input and decision-making on Wisconsin’s major transportation projects.”
Additional information about the TPC, including a full membership list, can be found on the WisDOT website. An agenda will be made available prior to the Dec. 6, 2019 meeting.
