Family friendly weekend: Mitchell Street Branch Library Opening, and Harbor Fest
Join Aldermen Perez and area residents as we celebrate two great events all in one weekend!
Alderman José Pérez says it’s an exciting weekend with two family friendly events.
First, the Milwaukee Public Library’s Mitchell Street Brach opens at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 7. The new library is located on 906 W. Mitchell St. There will be a ribbon-cutting and opening ceremony. The grand opening will feature crafts, tours, live entertainment, and the chance to win great prizes. Mayor Tom Barrett, Library Director Paula Kiely, and the Milwaukee Public Board of Trustees will all be in attendance for this event.
Second, Harbor Fest is going on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is free to the public. This will happen at the east end of Greenfield Ave. just outside the UWMilwaukee School of Freshwater Sciences. The inaugural Harbor Fest is a step towards getting the public familiar with this unique area of our natural landscape. Fishing demos, bike tours, a boat parade, waterscape painting, and a pop-up container bar will be at the event.
