Family and Community Celebrate Bond Ruling for Ramón Morales Reyes as Crucial Step Forward

(Milwaukee, June 10th, 2025)- Today, an immigration judge set a bond of $7,500 for Ramón Morales Reyes, affirming that he is neither a flight risk nor a danger to the community. This critical ruling marks a significant first step in Ramón’s ongoing fight to remain in the United States and seek justice through a U Visa, as a survivor of violent crime and a key witness in a criminal investigation.

Ramón Morales Reyes, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico who has lived in the United States since the 1980s, is a devoted husband and father of three U.S. citizen children. He has worked tirelessly as a dishwasher in Milwaukee to support his family. Last month, federal immigration agents detained Ramón shortly after he dropped off his child at school.

In a statement read during a press conference held by Voces de la Frontera earlier this morning, Ramón’s daughter Ana shared, “I’ve always been my dad’s little girl, growing up with a hard-working dad who makes sure our family has food on the table and a roof over our heads. His support is not just financial. It is emotional. He unites our family.” After learning of the judge’s decision, with tears in her eyes, she added, “Today’s decision gives us hope that he can be by our side again. We are so grateful to the judge and to the community for supporting us.”

Christine Neumann-Ortiz, Executive Director of Voces de la Frontera, said, “This bond decision is a meaningful victory not only for Ramón and his family but for our entire community. It reflects the courage and strength of community organizing, solidarity, and collective action. We thank all who have stood with Ramón, and we urge continued support as the process ahead remains long and challenging. We also continue to demand that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) fully clear Ramón’s name and correct the false accusations against him.”
