Baldwin Backs Bipartisan Bill to Bring Transparency to Fertilizer Prices for Wisconsin Farmers
Report: Wisconsin farmers facing 25% price increase on fertilizer since the start of Donald Trump’s war in Iran
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) introduced the Fertilizer Transparency Act of 2026, bipartisan legislation that would provide American producers with more accurate information on prices for fertilizer and fertilizer products in response to longstanding concerns over rising input costs. The bill would require the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to collect and publish data on fertilizer prices from manufacturers on a weekly basis. Currently, USDA conducts an annual voluntary survey on the prices that producers pay for inputs.
“Wisconsin farmers work hard every single day to feed our communities, but skyrocketing fertilizer costs are squeezing them – and this war in Iran is only making matters worse,” said Senator Baldwin. “Higher fertilizer costs cut into farmers’ bottom lines and increase costs for folks at the grocery store – and we need to do everything we can to address this. I am proud to work with my colleagues in both parties to help bring real transparency and accountability to the fertilizer market and fight to lower farmers’ input costs.”
After President Trump started his illegal war with Iran, Wisconsin farmers are seeing the price of fertilizer soar. One-third of the world’s fertilizer passes through the Strait of Hormuz, and since the attacks on the shipping lane, prices have gone up 25%. Those placing new orders of fertilizer are unsure of availability, creating more uncertainty in future crop yields as spring planting begins. The increased fertilizer costs come as President Trump’s unconstitutional war is also raising the price of diesel used to operate farm machinery. These increased input costs for American farmers, combined with Trump’s trade war, mean higher grocery store prices for Wisconsin families.
The legislation is led by Senator John Thune (R-SD) and cosponsored by Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA).

Tammy could you introduce legislation that would fund proper footwear for Israel so that when “boots on the ground” are requested by Bibi it is Israeli boots and not American “boots on the ground” in Iran? I’m wondering why Americans have to fight and die for all this war mongering b.s. that Israel is instigating.
