Milwaukee, Wis. — May 8, 2025 — Ebenezer Child Care Centers, Inc. is thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of its newest location at 2156 South 4th St., nestled on the edge of Milwaukee’s vibrant Bay View neighborhood along the Kinnickinnic River. The new location will be Ebenezer’s eighth child care center, slated to open this summer. The center will offer families a nurturing, high-quality early education experience in a beautifully revitalized historic space.

The 36,859-square-foot site, built in 1912 and formerly occupied by St. Anthony Middle School, is now undergoing a thoughtful transformation. Renovations are already in motion, led by Zimmerman Architectural Studios, Inc. and The Druml Company, with a design that celebrates the character of the past while embracing the needs of today’s young learners.

“We’re beyond excited to bring ‘Child Care from the Heart’ to Bay View – a neighborhood known for its energy, diversity, and community spirit,” said Beverly J. Anderson, Executive Director of Ebenezer. “We can’t wait to welcome families into this beautiful space and continue empowering children to grow, learn, and thrive.”

Key enhancements to the new facility include:

  • Modernized Classrooms that Embrace the Historic Structure – Carefully updated to support safe, engaging and developmentally appropriate experiences. The design thoughtfully preserves the charm and architecture of the historic building while incorporating modern elements to meet the needs of today’s children. Each floor will have a theme that incorporates the natural beauty around the center – parks, rivers and sky.
  • A Nature-Inspired Playground – Divided into three age-appropriate zones, the outdoor play area will feature a nature-based design with safe, handmade wooden structures, built on durable synthetic turf. The playground will encourage exploration, discovery and creativity while extending learning beyond the classroom walls.
  • A State-of-the-Art Commercial Kitchen – The brand-new kitchen will allow Ebenezer to continue its tradition of preparing and serving fresh, nutritious, and homemade meals, supporting children’s health and well-being from the inside out.
  • Parent Resource Lounge – Private room for parents to use for meetings with staff, and privacy for nursing moms.
