In response to Monday’s announcement, Sen. Kelda Roys, who is a member of the Joint Committee on Finance and represents most of the City of Madison, all of Monona, and part of McFarland, issued the following statement:
“Once again, Dr. Underly is showing herself to be one of Wisconsin’s greatest champions for children by presenting her vision for a robust and necessary state investment in public schools. Our communities are best served when our actions and investments deliver on the top priority — our children.
“This is a budget proposal that finally puts our kids and our schools first, while helping take the burden off of local taxpayers. I encourage my colleagues to join me in supporting and passing it.”
