On July 3, 2025, Governor Tony Evers signed into law the 2025–27 Biennial Budget that was passed by the Wisconsin State Legislature. This budget includes critical funding to maintain 12.5 Assistant District Attorney positions in Milwaukee County, which are essential to maintain public safety.

I want to extend my sincere thanks to Governor Evers for his recognition of the importance of prosecutors in promoting public safety by including Assistant District Attorney positions for Milwaukee County and statewide in his budget. Governor Evers has consistently supported providing necessary funding for prosecution functions.

I would also like to thank Representative Jessie Rodriguez for leading the legislative effort to secure funding for the Milwaukee County positions, with strong support from Representative Bob Donovan, Representative Robert Wittke, Senator Van Wanggaard, and Minority Leader Dianne Hesselbein. Their leadership and commitment to public safety is noted and appreciated. I also want to thank Speaker Robin Vos, Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu, Minority Leader Hesselbein, the members of the Joint Committee on Finance and the Wisconsin State Legislature for passing a bipartisan budget the enhances safety in Milwaukee County.

Finally, I want to thank Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley for strongly supporting the work of the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office, and advocating for funding of Assistant District Attorney positions in Milwaukee County. His broad vision for meeting the needs of Milwaukee County makes our region healthier and safer.

The prosecutors and other professionals in the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office appreciate the opportunity to serve the people of Milwaukee County, and are grateful to be able to do so moving forward with the necessary staffing to undertake our important work.
