Franklin, WIMilwaukee County Parks and Wehr Nature Center invite you to sip, savor, and explore the plant-powered world of beverages at Brews and Botany: An Evening Discovering the Plants Behind Your Favorite Bevvy’s, taking place Saturday, August 2, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Wehr Nature Center.

This rain-or-shine celebration of plant-based drinks will immerse guests in the flavors and origins of beverages we often take for granted. From craft beers and kombucha to coffees and teas, attendees will sample a wide variety of drinks while enjoying live music by Frogwater, artisanal food from Benet’s Barbeque Food Truck, and the serene natural beauty of Wehr’s outdoor grounds.

“The purpose of this event is to help people understand and appreciate the role plants play in our daily lives, from the trails we travel to the beverages we sip,” said Carly Hintz, Director of Wehr Nature Center. “Brews and Botany is the perfect fusion of fun and education, and we’re thrilled to partner with local businesses to bring this unique experience to the community.”

Event Highlights Include:

  • Samples from over six local beverage makers, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic options
  • Botanical trivia and insights into the plants behind your favorite drinks
  • Acoustic folk tunes by local favorite Frogwater
  • Food for purchase from Benet’s Barbeque
  • On-site shopping with Sherper’s Outfitter and the Friends of Wehr Nature Store
  • Free parking (a $5 value)

For those who want to go beyond sheer enjoyment to dive into the “how” behind the drinks, you can sign up for two bonus workshops being held that day with partnering businesses. Starting at 9 a.m., select participants can sign up for a coffee-making workshop with East View Coffee and at 1pm there will be a kombucha-making workshop with Living Full Kombucha. Look for details on our website or Facebook.
