Derrick Van Orden Gives Unions the Shaft on Labor Day
MADISON, Wis. — On Labor Day, Derrick Van Orden spoke out of both sides of his mouth, claiming to support working Wisconsinites while asking voters to get behind the most anti-union, anti-worker ticket in modern history in Donald Trump and JD Vance.
Here’s more on Derrick Van Orden’s record of ignoring working Wisconsinites:
- Derrick Van Orden called the Protecting the Right to Organize Act that would protect workers’ right to organize a union and negotiate for higher wages and better benefits a “train wreck of a bill.”
- The AFL-CIO has given Derrick Van Orden a voting score of 10%.
- Derrick Van Orden supported legislation that allowed employers to take advantage of workers by offering junk health plans that don’t provide adequate benefits. Derrick Van Orden voted in favor of penalizing recipients of unemployment insurance.
- Derrick Van Orden supports Donald Trump and his Project 2025 Agenda that would put the interests of big businesses ahead of working families across the country.
- Derrick Van Orden and Donald Trump’s Project 2025 Agenda is an anti-union playbook that would rescind discrimination protections, weaken overtime pay regulations, and allow states to opt out of complying with federal labor laws including the National Labor Relations Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act which protect worker’s rights on the job.
“Derrick Van Orden’s so-called support for working Wisconsinites is just lip service,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Deputy Communications Director Haley McCoy. “Derrick Van Orden is just another Trump lackey betraying unions and working people in his district to help the ultra-wealthy and big corporations get ahead. Derrick Van Orden doesn’t care about working people—he only cares about working for Donald Trump.”
