Council Members to Host Black History Month Celebration Tomorrow
In recognition of Black History Month, Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs, Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II, Alderman Mark Chambers, Jr., Alderwoman Andrea M. Pratt, Alderman Lamont Westmoreland, Alderwoman Larresa Taylor, Alderwoman Sharlen Moore and Alderman DiAndre Jackson will host a public celebration TOMORROW – Tuesday, February 10, at 12 p.m. in the first floor rotunda at City Hall, 200 E. Wells St. The event will include performances, as well as award presentations. Former Alderman and Mayor Marvin Pratt will receive the Living Legend Award, and Zoe Chambers will receive the Emerging Leader Award. Additionally, Council Members will recognize the City’s 28 Days of Black History honorees. A limited supply of free refreshments will be available following the event.
Residents are also invited to attend the Black History Month Power Hour networking event later in the evening from 5:30 -7:30 p.m. in the first floor rotunda of City Hall, 200 E. Wells St. Power Hour seeks to provide an opportunity for young professionals to come together to network, make connections, and build relationships to strengthen the community. The event is free and open to the public.
