Cory Asimus recognized as 2023 First Responder of the Year for the 57th Assembly District
MADISON – Representative Lee Snodgrass (D-Appleton) recognized Appleton Firefighter/Paramedic Cory Asimus as the 57th Assembly District’s First Responder of the Year. Representative Snodgrass released the following statement:
“This recognition is presented annually to outstanding first responders across the state to highlight their service, sacrifice, and commitment to communities across Wisconsin. Cory Asimus, a retired Marine Corp Veteran, set new world records when he completed the Cellcom Green Bay Half Marathon and the
Community First Fox Cities Marathon as he carried a 100-pound ruck sack on his back to draw awareness to the increasing cancer diagnosis rates experienced by our military veterans and firefighters. Through Cory’s efforts, he raised more than $41,000.00 to provide Galleri cancer pre-screening blood draws for military veterans who serve as firefighters and police officers throughout
Outagamie County. Cory exemplifies going above and beyond in service to community like the first responders the
State of Wisconsin honored today. I’m proud to present him with this well-deserved recognition.”
