“I want to thank Nancy Pelosi for her service to Congress and the nation. There have only been 54 Speakers of the United States House of Representatives since the first Congress convened in 1789 and only a few have been as consequential as Speaker Nancy Pelosi. She is a skilled legislator with a tireless work ethic and a legendary toughness who has left her indelible mark on the history of this country.

Speaker Pelosi played a critical role in providing health care for millions through the Affordable Care Act, stabilizing the country after the Great Recession by passing financial reforms and economic relief, making historic investments in clean energy, securing equal pay for women legislation, seeing the country through its successful response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and inspiring a horrified nation on the evening of January 6, 2021, by presiding over the House as it finished its business of certifying the results of the election.

I am so honored and blessed to have served under her leadership and I know our country has benefited from her tireless work in Congress.”
