Congresswoman Gwen Moore Statement on ICE Arrests at Milwaukee Courthouse
“I have long supported protecting ‘sensitive spaces,’ which limits ICE arrests in courthouses, hospitals, schools, and houses of worship because the policy respects and protects everyone within the larger community and safer, less intrusive options exist. In this instance, ICE has seemingly front-run Milwaukee’s justice system, potentially denying the city justice and potential victims a remedy. This Administration’s decision to remove sensitive location protections will stir even more fear in our communities, prevent victims of crime from coming forward, and disrupt houses of worship, schools, and hospitals.”
