Community Advocate Curtis A. Cook II Announces Candidacy for Wisconsin 11th Assembly District
MILWAUKEE (April 27, 2020) — During one of the most pivotal times in this state, Milwaukee’s own Curtis A. Cook II announced today that he will step forward and declares his candidacy for the Wisconsin State Assembly.
“I grew up in neighborhoods where there were too many barriers to success and too few opportunities to get ahead.” said Cook. “We must come together to create a community that works for everyone and not just someone.”
Being born and raised in Milwaukee, Cook has seen the ups and downs of this dynamic city. At the age of 22, he is a working-class citizen with a vision and zeal for his community. He has experience as a community advocate, with his most recent work with the campaign “Vote Yes for MPS!” He has a passion for breaking barriers and opening opportunities for everyone.
Cook says his goals are set, “While there are many issues effecting the 11th District, we must get clear and concise about our priorities. We must develop data-driven, practical methods to address unemployment, lack of access to resources and poverty. These are urgent issues that plague our neighborhoods. These priorities require partnerships with both the public and private sectors as well as with the communities. We must be the catalysts of our own change. And that change starts now!”
