Common Council to Recognize Reuben Harpole, Peter Feigin during Tomorrow’s Meeting
As part of the Common Council meeting tomorrow – Tuesday, February 10, the Council will recognize a pair of individuals who have left a lasting mark on Milwaukee. First, the Council will honor Reuben Harpole as a local historian whose works ensure our stories are never forgotten. Mr. Harpole has worked in service of the community for decades, and among his notable accomplishments are having helped develop more than 25 community centers and programs across Milwaukee Public Schools and higher education institutions, being a pillar of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Center for Urban Community Development, and working to help preserve history via America’s Black Holocaust Museum.
Common Council President José G. Pérez is thrilled the Council has the opportunity to recognize these outstanding individuals. “Reuben Harpole and Peter Feigin are both shining examples of leadership within our community. They have spent countless hours working to make Milwaukee a better place, and I can’t wait to honor them both tomorrow for everything they’ve given to this city,” he said.
Tomorrow’s Council meeting will begin at 9 a.m. and will be broadcast live on the City Channel, available in the city on Spectrum cable channel 25 and on AT&T U-Verse (channel 99), and streamed live at www.city.milwaukee.gov/citychannel.

Peter Feigin is an affable enough guy, and I do wish him well. But not everyone is celebrating his legacy. Feigin was instrumental in County Gov. losing yet more Parks Funding as the State grabbed the FiServ Forum lot that was owned by Milw County, and was part of a deal that the Econ. Development Comm of the Board was using to establish a fair trade, Instead the land was confiscated without compensation and given to the FirServ District AND millions were dedicated to financing the deal all directly taken from the funds that supported Milw. Co. Parks. The Parks now sit on a 1/2 Billion capital deficit while the wealthy have a nice basketball facility for betting and making a show of their attendance. I think the Bucks Organization should step up with more financing to help the beleaguered parks, if it’s by way of improving basketball courts in our Parks, at least it ‘s something.
Hear, hear! Feign is no Reuben Harpole.
I worked with Harpole years ago.
