TOMORROW – Thursday, May 8 – the Judiciary and Legislation Committee will take up a communication file regarding the process behind the 2025 City of Milwaukee property assessments from the Assessor’s Office.

Council file #241825, authored by Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs – ‘Communication from the Assessor’s Office relating to the 2025 property assessments’ – will be heard by the committee when it meets at 9 a.m. tomorrow in room 301-B at City Hall, 200 E. Wells St.

Alderwoman Coggs, chair of the Public Works Committee, emphasized the importance of public awareness and transparency regarding the assessments process, and invites members of the public to follow the discussion before the Judiciary and Legislation Committee on Thursday. “The Assessor’s Office has noted that assessments increased citywide by approximately 15% compared to last year. The numbers often vary from neighborhood to neighborhood, and for many property owners the process can be confusing,” she said.

“Thursday’s hearing will provide an opportunity for the public to hear directly from the Assessor’s Office about the 2025 assessments process and how it transpired,” Alderwoman Coggs said.

Thursday’s meeting will be televised live on the City Channel (channel 25 on Spectrum Cable and channel 99 on AT&T U-Verse in the City of Milwaukee) and via streaming video on the city website at www.city.milwaukee.gov/Channel25.
