Milwaukee, WI – July 2, 2024 — COA Youth & Family Centers is excited to announce its annual STEM Expo, a flagship event of the COA and Kohl’s Explore Your Future STEM Program. This innovative program is designed to implement science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education at our two youth centers and eight afterschool sites, fostering a love for STEM in underrepresented groups.

The annual STEM Expo will take place on July 12th, 1:00-3:00 pm at COA’s Goldin Center (2320 W Burleigh St.), where over 125 youth from COA’s various sites will gather to participate in hands-on, immersive activities and science experiments. These activities are led by enthusiastic volunteers dedicated to making STEM accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

During the event, youth ages 4-14 will explore a variety of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math concepts through interactive learning stations. These stations are designed to equip them with the knowledge and tools needed to succeed and thrive in today’s specialized workforce. By engaging in these activities, children will gain valuable skills and experiences that can inspire future educational and career pursuits.

“We are thrilled to host the annual STEM Expo and provide a platform for our youth to explore STEM in an engaging and inclusive environment,” said Lina Nguyen, STEM Program Coordinator. “Our partnership with Kohl’s allows us to offer high-quality STEM education that can make a real difference in the lives of our children and the future of our community.”

The COA and Kohl’s Explore Your Future STEM Program is unique in its commitment to inclusivity. By providing quality learning opportunities to all children, regardless of race, gender, or socioeconomic status, the program aims to boost participation in STEM fields. COA engages youth in fun and exciting STEM activities outside of the traditional classroom environment, hoping to ignite a passion for STEM in every child.
