Child’s shooting death a loss to the entire community
Statement of Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs - July 24, 2017
The homicide of six-year-old Justin Evans Jr. on Saturday evening near N. 23rd and W. Nash Streets has brought the worst kind of grief and pain to his family and has shaken our community. Justin is now the youngest victim of gun violence in Milwaukee in 2017 and my prayers are with his loved ones during this time of immense sorrow.
The finality of death is a pain that all families experience, but the sudden and senseless death of a child is an even deeper tragic loss. It is a loss shared by the entire community as we will never see the full contributions and the difference Justin could have made in Milwaukee and beyond. As a mother of young children myself I share in the community’s outrage and determination to see the perpetrator brought to justice.
I strongly urge anyone with information about the homicide of Justin Evans Jr. to call Milwaukee Police as soon as possible at 414-935-7360. So his family may have some peace.
