To ensure all of us can whip up killer margaritas at home on Cinco de Mayo, Café Corazón is hosting a special after-hours Margarita-Making Masterclass this Thursday, April 30, in the Café Corazón Bay View location (2394 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.).

“Across our three restaurants, we make 1,000s of margaritas a week, and our entire team has learned a few tricks over our 15+ years in business,” said Kelsey McGuire, General Manager, Café Corazón Bay View. “On the 30th, attendees will learn how to perfect their cocktail-shaking skills; there’ll be trivia with prizes, and we’ll end the night with a photo op where folks can go behind the bar and shake up margaritas.”

The 90-minute-long class, which will cover the basics of great marg-making, as well as how to put one’s signature spin on the cocktail via simple syrups, purees, liqueurs, and more, will start at 9 p.m. on the 30th. Attendance is capped at 20 margarita-making fans, and reservations can be made at this Eventbrite page www.eventbrite.com/e/pre-cinco-de-mayo-margarita-making-masterclass-tickets-1984655902229?aff=ebdsoporgprofile

The class costs $29 per person, which includes a complimentary welcome cocktail to help get everyone’s creativity flowing, as well as free samples of guacamole, chips, and Corazón’s famed spicy salsa verde. “And, of course, tastes of all of the margaritas we make during the masterclass,” McGuire added.

Corazón Bartender Sammie Sturino will teach the class. “We designed the masterclass to be hands-on, interactive, and a ton of fun,” said Sturino, who has 10+ years of mixologist experience. “Our #1 tip: Use only fresh-squeezed lime juice in your drinks as it packs the perfect flavor punch.” Thanks to heeding their own advice, Café Corazón bartenders and kitchen staff squeeze over 238,000 limes a year.

For those wanting to leave the margarita-making to the pros, Café Corazón’s three locations will be open until 8 p.m. on May 5. “We also sell our margarita mix, made with that fresh-squeezed lime juice, to go,” Sturino added. “So, folks can enjoy dinner and drinks in our restaurants or at home this Cinco de Mayo.”
