Bright Cellars Launches Folk & Fable Wine in Milwaukee
Folk & Fable was developed using data science based on actual member feedback on the Bright Cellars platform.
Milwaukee, WI – May 28, 2019 — Bright Cellars, the Milwaukee-based start-up wine company has launched its exclusive wine, Folk & Fable, into the Milwaukee market.
Folk & Fable was developed using data science based on actual member feedback on the Bright Cellars platform. In response to an industry where winemakers have frequently ignored what consumers enjoy, Folk & Fable was created using the opposite approach: by starting with Bright Cellars members.
Bright Cellars CEO/Co-Founder, Richard Yau, states, “This is not a traditional brand launch – Folk & Fable has a proven base and has already sold 4,500 cases online (over 50,000 bottles). New wine brands are difficult – the market is crowded, but we expect Folk & Fable to be successful not because we hope it will, but because we have data that supports it will.”
Bright Cellars is partnering with General Beverage for this launch. General Beverage is ready to embrace innovation and is a partner who understands this is completely different. “We at General Beverage are excited to include Bright Cellars as one of our valued suppliers. Bright Cellars is an innovative and creative company exhibiting the qualities we are looking for today and into the future,” states Dan Kopina, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing at General Beverage.
Aged for three months in bourbon barrels, the California-produced Folk & Fable red blend presents bold and alluring aromas of stewed blackberries and baking spices. On the palate, complex flavors of macerated black raspberry and plum meet notes of hazelnuts, vanilla bean and toasted oak.
Bright Cellars Wine Director, Gretel Bubnik said of the Folk & Fable launch, “We’ve matched over 2.5 million bottles of wine and over 2 million people have taken the Bright Cellars wine quiz. We have feedback from our actual consumer, know who that customer is, and are striving to produce what they enjoy. We have a fantastic Milwaukee-based team launching and marketing this unique wine.”

About Bright Cellars Bright Cellars, co-founded by Richard Yau and Joe Laurendi, uses data science to match members to wines they are guaranteed to love. Members begin by taking a quiz, which powers an algorithm used to match consumers to their personalized monthly wine recommendations. After receiving their monthly selection, members are able to rate and review the wines, which provides Bright Cellars with valuable feedback and insight on their primarily millennial consumer. This data is then used to produce wines for the retail market, integrating the online to offline experience. www.brightcellars.com
