Brewers Name Minor League Players and Pitchers of the Month for May

Howell, Gray Jr. Earn Players of the Month; Francis, Floyd Named Pitchers of the Month

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have named outfielders Korry Howell and Joe Gray Jr. as their Minor League Players of the Month for May and right-handers Bowden Francis and Taylor Floyd as Minor League Pitchers of the Month.

Howell, 22, hit .326 (28-for-86) with 6 HR, 17 RBI and 9 SB in 23 games for High-A Wisconsin in May.

Selected by the Brewers in the 12th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, Howell tied for the High-A lead in total bases (53) in May, led the league in runs scored (25), ranked fourth in hits (28) and tied for sixth in extra-base hits (12).

Gray Jr., 21, hit .273 (24-for-88) with 7 HR, 29 RBI and 5 SB in 23 games for the month with Low-A Carolina.

A second-round selection of the Brewers in the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, Gray Jr. led all of Low-A in home runs in May, tied for the league lead in extra-base hits (13) and ranked second in RBI (29) and total bases (51).

Francis, 25, went 4-1 with a 3.81 ERA (26ip, 11er) and 34 strikeouts in 5 starts between Double-A Biloxi and Triple-A Nashville in May. He was selected in the seventh round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft by Milwaukee.

Drafted in the 10th round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, Floyd, 23, went 2-0 with a save in 8 relief appearances for High-A Wisconsin in May. He posted a 1.93 ERA (14ip, 3er), striking out 20 of the 54 batters he faced.
