BREAKING: Former Wis. Dem Assembly Leader Dave Travis Endorses Nelson:

Appleton, Wis. – Veteran legislator Dave Travis, who won in both rural and urban areas of Dane County as a populist Democrat and served as Wisconsin Assembly Majority Leader from 1991-95 today endorsed Tom Nelson for U.S. Senate, citing Nelson’s ability to win statewide.

Travis served in the Assembly from 1979 till 2009 and in areas deemed “red” at the time.

Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson is a 5th-generation Wisconsinite and pastor’s kid who has won SIX TIMES in areas carried by Trump by embracing workers and focusing on Main Street solutions.

Like Travis, Nelson was elected by his Democratic peers to be their leader during HIS time in the Assembly.

Nelson said, “It is an honor to have Dave’s endorsement. Dave was a well-respected legislator of over three decades with numerous bills and laws to his name. I will never forget our time together in the Assembly and in particular his quick, dry wit punctuating ‘told you so’ readings of obscure Assembly rules. The chair would always rule it out of order (even though he was always right.) It was much needed levity when we were in the minority. The Assembly would do well to have a Dave Travis among their ranks today.”

Said Travis:

“I served in the Wisconsin Assembly with Tom. He was a damn good legislator.                   

Tom was selected by his Assembly Democratic colleagues to be their leader – which tells you how his peers viewed him.

He’s repeatedly won elections in areas that aren’t very blue, which are necessary for any Democrat to carry in a statewide election.

Tom is an experienced, knowledgeable leader who knows Wisconsin, and who can defeat the national embarrassment who shamefully represents us in the U.S. Senate.”
