Barrett Lo Visionary Development Unveils Vision for Approved Greendale Project at Southridge Mall
Neighborhood-creating development to redefine Southridge Mall as “live, work, play” destination
GREENDALE, Wis. — Today, Barrett Lo Visionary Development (BLVD) unveiled the vision and architectural renderings for its planned, mixed-use development near the site of the former Boston Store at Southridge Mall.
Crafted by national design firm, KTGY’s Chicago office, this best-in-class development project will include approximately 675 market-rate apartments above up to 20,000 square feet of retail space across multiple mid-rise structures centered around a village green area. It will be located on 5300 S. 76th Street, which formerly housed the Southridge Mall Boston Store.
Construction for the project will be divided into four phases. Phase one will consist of approximately 230 residencies. The second phase will consist of 175 residencies, followed by 155 residencies in the third phase and 115 residencies in the fourth and final phase.
“Today’s design unveiling is an exciting culmination of over two years of work to establish the architectural vision and design potential of the Southridge Mall redevelopment,” said Craig Pryde, Principal, KTGY. “Mall redevelopment presents a unique opportunity to revitalize existing retail assets within communities, bringing in housing, new retail, and recreation in a strategic way. We’re grateful for the continued partnership with BLVD and the Village of Greendale to provide a concept for this urban community and bring the vision to reality.”
The project will center around a spacious village green and exterior plaza space allowing for community attractions, events and connectivity between the mall and the new apartment community. Amenities for the multi-phase development include a pool, fitness center, club lounge, dog spa, golf simulator, package room and co-working space.

Just where I want to live. Next to a mall.
If fully developed, this would comprise 20 apartments more than The Couture and 333 N. Water, combined. A big project at the mall of my youth, where I worked my way through high school and college in the stock room at one of the other department stores.
Sure wish this release or the Barrett Lo website had a site plan to share.
While I probably would not choose to live here, it is important to note the impact urbanism is having in its various permutations, manifestations. This will turn Southridge into something of a Lifestyle Center (and not a quaint little town) but, still.
