Alderwoman Pratt invites the community to help fight Sickle Cell Disease

Walk to Break the Sickle Cycle is TOMORROW – Saturday, October 12

Alderwoman Andrea M. Pratt is inviting the community to take part in Saturday’s Walk to Break the Sickle Cycle at Lakeshore State Park along Milwaukee’s beautiful Lake Michigan shoreline.

The walk will start at 9 a.m. tomorrow – Saturday, October 12 – at Lakeshore State Park, 500 N. Harbor Dr. Participants can go to www.sicklecellmke.org to register for the event.

Alderwoman Pratt, whose 1st Aldermanic District has the highest number of individuals living with SCD in the City of Milwaukee, said she is a proud sponsor of the Walk to Break the Sickle Cycle.

“I strongly encourage community members to take part and stand alongside those battling Sickle Cell Disease, and show them they are supported and that they are not alone,” Alderwoman Pratt said. “By taking part in the walk, people can also help spread the word and educate others about Sickle Cell Disease and its impact on our community.”

Alderwoman Pratt – along with Ald. Russell W. Stamper, II, Ald. José G. Pérez, Ald.  JoCasta Zamarripa, Ald. DiAndre Jackson and Ald. Marina Dimitrijevic – sponsored Common Council legislation last month providing a small amount of funding for the walk, thus making the City of Milwaukee one of the event sponsors.
