Ald. Dimitrijevic to Host Community Meeting for Residents to Get Involved, be Prepared
Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic will host a community meeting on Sunday, March 1 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at South Shore Pavilion (2900 S. Shore Drive) to provide residents with information, training opportunities, and resources focused on strengthening neighborhood support systems. The meeting comes amid growing concern from residents about recent federal actions affecting immigrant families and local communities. The event is designed to create space for neighbors to connect, learn, and build collective preparedness rooted in community care.
The meeting will include information on Legal Observer Training, Know Your Rights education, opportunities to engage with Mutual Aid networks, and connections to trusted local organizations working on the ground. A brief update will also be provided on the recently introduced ICE Out Milwaukee legislative package.
Organizers emphasize that the gathering is centered on lawful civic engagement, transparency, and community resilience. Legal observers play an important role in documenting public activity, while mutual aid networks help ensure families — especially children — have support systems in place during times of stress.
“When neighbors know their rights and stand together, we strengthen Milwaukee,” added Ald. Dimitrijevic.
