FEATURED SPEAKER Will Allen, son of a sharecropper, former professional basketball player, ex-corporate sales leader and now farmer, has become recognized as among the preeminent thinkers of our time on agriculture and food policy. The founder and CEO of Growing Power Inc., Will is widely considered the leading authority in the expanding field of urban agriculture. Will promotes the belief that all people, regardless of their economic circumstances, should have access to fresh, safe, affordable and nutritious foods at all times. In 2008, Will was named a John D. and Katherine T. McArthur Foundation Fellow and was awarded a prestigious foundation “genius grant” for his work. He is also a member of the Clinton Global Initiative and in February 2010, he was invited to the White House to join First Lady Michelle Obama in launching “Let’s Move!” her signature leadership program to reverse the epidemic of childhood obesity in America. Matters pertaining to economic development of Milwaukee County, including the best disposition of county properties, are decided by this Committee. It also makes decisions on the Research Park and the Airport Business Park. Meets at 9:00 A.M. on the 2nd Monday before the County Board Meeting in room 203-R of the Milwaukee County Courthouse. After all it was and still is the greatest cycling movie ever made. It was seminal in the early FTTM years. The Capital Improvement Committee is tasked to develop, maintain, and update a long-term capital improvements program for the City’s construction and maintenance of its infrastructure and facilities. It is made up of the Commissioner of Public Works; the Department of Administration – Budget and Management Director; the Comptroller; the chair of the Public Works Committee; the chair of the Finance and Personnel Committee; the Common Council President; and a public member appointed by the Mayor. All except the public member may name an alternate. The public member is subject to Common Council confirmation to a three-year term. The President of the Common Council names the chair of the committee. Agenda
