Wisconsin Dance Theatre Announces Return of “A Hero’s Homecoming” Tour Across Wisconsin
HARTLAND, WI (June 19, 2026)—Wisconsin Dance Theatre (WDT), Wisconsin’s professional nonprofit dance company, proudly announces the return of its original patriotic ballet, A Hero’s Homecoming, for its 2026 statewide tour. Following a successful debut season, the production is expanding to three Wisconsin communities—Elkhorn, Wales/Kettle Moraine, and Manitowoc—bringing audiences a moving story of resilience, sacrifice, and the spirit of coming home.
Set at the conclusion of World War II and inspired by the experiences of returning American service members and their families, A Hero’s Homecoming combines professional ballet, theatrical storytelling, and beloved music from the era to transport audiences back to the 1940s.
Following overwhelmingly positive audience and veteran feedback during last year’s performances, Wisconsin Dance Theatre is bringing the production to more communities across the state. Timed around Memorial Day, Flag Day, and the 250th anniversary of the United States, the tour serves as both an artistic experience and a tribute to the generations whose service helped shape our nation.
New this year, audiences will also enjoy live music during intermission, performed by local Wisconsin musicians, further enhancing the production’s connection to the community and the era it celebrates.
“This production is ultimately about community, remembrance, and human connection,” said Samuel Huberty, Artistic Director of Wisconsin Dance Theatre. “We wanted to create something that honors the sacrifices of past generations while also bringing people together through live performance, music, and storytelling.”
The 2026 cast features 12 professional dancers from across the United States, including several returning artists and new company members. Wisconsin natives Ahna Lipchik, Lily Edgar, Caden Pierce, Jordan Curtin, Samuel Huberty, and Joseph Huberty all return home to perform as part of the production.
The company also celebrates the continued success of Wisconsin Dance Theatre Conservatory alumni:
- Caden Pierce returns for his first season as a Wisconsin Dance Theatre company member after completing his first professional season with South Carolina Ballet.
- Sadie Curtiss will perform as an apprentice with Wisconsin Dance Theatre before beginning her fall contract with Ballet Theatre of Maryland.
The production additionally features student dancers from Wisconsin Dance Theatre Conservatory and local studios throughout Wisconsin, creating a unique opportunity for young artists to perform alongside working professionals.
For the first time, Wisconsin Dance Theatre is expanding the tour to Manitowoc through a special partnership with the Wisconsin Maritime Museum. A portion of ticket proceeds from the Manitowoc performance will support the Museum’s efforts to dry dock and preserve its historic WWII submarine, USS Cobia.
Tickets for all performances are now available at www.wisconsindancetheatre.com.
Veterans receive 40% off tickets, and groups of 10 or more receive 10% off admission. Wisconsin Dance Theatre has also partnered with Vet Tix to provide donated tickets to veterans and military families.
