Summerfest and Northcott Neighborhood House Announce Juneteenth Celebration Details for 2026

“A Taste of Juneteenth” Returns on June 20

MILWAUKEE – (May 8, 2026) – Summerfest presented by American Family Insurance and Northcott Neighborhood House invite the community to extend the Juneteenth celebration at Summerfest with a variety of experiences and events from June 18 through June 20. Milwaukee’s traditional Juneteenth Day parade and festival will take place along Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive on June 19, celebrating its 55th Anniversary in 2026.

As we mark this milestone 55th year of the Juneteenth celebration, we warmly welcome visitors and neighboring communities of all cultures and ethnicities to join Summerfest in honoring freedom, resilience, and the vibrant traditions that make Milwaukee shine as the city of festivals,” said Tony Kearney, Executive Director, Northcott Neighborhood House.

June 18 – Summerfest Opening Ceremony and Charlie Wilson

During the festival’s official opening ceremony on June 18 at 6:00 p.m., Summerfest will recognize the recipients of Northcott Neighborhood House’s Juneteenth scholarship pageant. Hosted annually as part of Northcott’s Juneteenth celebration, the pageant honors outstanding African American youth, including Miss Juneteenth and Mister Juneteenth (ages 14–18), as well as Little Miss Juneteenth and Mister Juneteenth Jr. (ages 8–13). Summerfest is honored to support this program, which showcases leadership and achievement within the Milwaukee community, through a scholarship donation.

R&B icon Charlie Wilson, with support from Danny Boy will help kick off Summerfest’s opening day with a can’t miss performance at BMO Pavilion.

June 19 – Juneteenth Parade, Summerfest Admission Promotion, and Music

MWF will participate in Milwaukee’s Juneteenth Parade on June 19, joining the community in celebrating one of the nation’s longest‑running Juneteenth traditions.

Building on the community celebration of Juneteenth, Summerfest will have a special admission promotion that will directly support Northcott Neighborhood House and the individuals and families it serves. The first 2,500 fans who arrive at Summerfest on June 19, 2026, between 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and donate three shelf stable food items will receive one FREE admission ticket, courtesy of Redo Cabinets. Food donations will be accepted at the Mid Gate and tickets are valid for the day and time of the promotion only.

Music will be featured across multiple Summerfest stages on June 19 with a mix of national and local artists including Don Toliver with SahBabii, Che, SoFayGo, sosocamo, Chase B, and Lelo at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater, along with The Family Stone’s 50th Anniversary Tour, Tyrese, Chris Crain, FEE$, Emmitt James, Troy Tyler, JazzMen, and Ben Mulwana.

June 20 – “A Taste of Juneteenth,” sponsored by Festival Foods

Also returning during Summerfest is “A Taste of Juneteenth,” a ticketed culinary experience on Saturday, June 20 from Noon – 2:00 p.m. at the Potawatomi Founder’s Club, featuring a lineup of local food vendors. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample dishes from various entrepreneurs, chefs, and restaurants, with proceeds directly supporting participating vendors – Atwood Hwy BBQ Company, Dear Florence Sweets, Gina’s Creations, Glad’s Kitchen, It’s Smackn, Johnny’s Kitchen Creations, Kellie Katering, Monnie’s Kitchen, Peachy’s Plates, Pop’s BBQ Memphis Style, and Signature Sweets. Tickets for a “A Taste of Juneteenth” are $55.00, in honor of the 55th anniversary of Milwaukee’s Juneteenth, and can be purchased HERE.
