MILWAUKEE — The Marquette University women’s soccer team (7-3-9, 3-2-5 BIG EAST) and Providence (5-4-10, 3-3-4 BIG EAST) played to a scoreless draw on Senior Night Saturday at Valley Fields, with the result clinching the Golden Eagles a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament for the first time since 2017.

Marquette dominated the shot column throughout, finishing with a 16-4 advantage in shots and a 6-0 edge in shots on goal. Haley Christianson tested Providence’s goalkeeper just 1:01 into the match, and the Golden Eagles continued to generate chances all night, but the Friars’ keeper turned away all six shots on frame to preserve the clean sheet.

Marquette’s goalkeeping tandem of Elise Krone and Mia Hurd combined for the shutout, with Hurd playing the final 75 minutes after replacing Krone in the 15th minute.
