Chairwoman Nicholson-Bovell Announces Milwaukee County Board Committee Assignments

Centering diverse membership and lived experience to amplify voices across Milwaukee County

MILWAUKEE – Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson-Bovell announced committee appointments for the Board of Supervisors designed to strengthen oversight, improve collaboration, and position Milwaukee County to meet the challenges ahead. Today’s announcement follows the April 20 Organizational Meeting, where Supervisors elected the Chairwoman, 1st Vice Chair Steven Shea, and 2nd Vice Chair Priscilla E. Coggs-Jones to lead the Milwaukee County Board for the 2026-2028 term.

“These appointments reflect the depth of talent and dedicated service across our Board,” said Nicholson-Bovell. “I considered experience, subject matter expertise, constituent representation, and the value of creating opportunities for both seasoned and emerging leaders with a focus on putting the right people in the right roles at the right time.

The Chairwoman emphasized these appointments align members’ interests and strengths with the County’s core areas of focus, including fiscal stewardship, public services, infrastructure, health equity, and economic opportunity.

“Committee work is where we engage directly with constituents and where the public’s voice shapes much of the Board’s work,” Nicholson-Bovell said. “These appointments set up these spaces to be focused, functional, and positioned to deliver results.”

“No single person or position is guaranteed, and leadership requires both experience and renewal,” Nicholson-Bovell said. “These leadership assignments reflect that balance, drawing on experience while building the next generation of leaders prepared to serve. We meet our responsibility to build a Board that is effective today while preparing leaders for tomorrow. Together, my fellow Supervisors and I will continue advancing our shared vision of making Milwaukee the healthiest county in Wisconsin, where every resident has access to opportunity.”
