Representative Joe Sheehan Announces Candidacy for Re-Election to the 26th Assembly District

By - Apr 20th, 2026 12:25 pm

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – Representative Joe Sheehan (D- Sheboygan) announced today that he will seek re-election for the 26th Assembly District. He has served one term in the Assembly as a member of the Committee on Education and the Committee on Labor, Workforce Development, and Integrated Employment. Sheehan previously served as superintendent of the Sheboygan Area School District and Executive Director of the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation. He released the following statement:

“It is an honor to serve the Sheboygan area in the Assembly. This legislative session has been productive, passing bills that have been held up in the legislature for too long including postpartum medicaid expansion, Gail’s law to require insurance companies to cover all breast cancer screenings, and a landmark deal to release $132 million to clean up PFAS (forever chemicals) contamination in the state.

“However, the job is not done. I am continuing to fight to fully fund public education, make meaningful efforts to lower costs for Wisconsinites, and protect our environment for generations to come. I hope to earn your trust and your vote again this year to continue to put Sheboygan first in Madison.”
