New “Shop, Sip & Savor” Annual Event Invites Visitors to Explore the Historic Third Ward
MILWAUKEE — Get ready to experience the Historic Third Ward in a whole new way! Shop, Sip & Savor is a new annual event celebrating the vibrant mix of local businesses that define the iconic Milwaukee neighborhood. Taking place Saturday, May 30, and Sunday, May 31, the weekend invites locals and visitors to explore the Ward through exclusive sales, special menus, pop-up experiences, in-store activations and more — hosted by nearly 40 participating shops, galleries, restaurants and bars.
The inaugural event debuts during the Historic Third Ward Association’s 50th anniversary year, kicking off what the Historic Third Ward Association hopes will become a new annual tradition. “Shop, Sip & Savor is designed to showcase the incredible diversity of experiences in the Third Ward,” says Jim Plaisted, executive director of the Historic Third Ward Association. “As we celebrate 50 years as an organization, we’re excited to launch a new tradition that highlights the small businesses, creative energy, and sense of community that make this neighborhood such a special destination.”
Throughout the weekend, the neighborhood will come alive with festive programming and street-level energy as guests stroll between the Ward’s unique retail, dining and creative spaces. Participating businesses will host their own promotions and experiences, which may include tastings, demonstrations, live art, DJs, styling sessions, artist talks and more.
A road map-inspired brochure will guide visitors through participating locations and highlight curated routes designed to help guests explore the neighborhood. Suggested paths will include a retail-focused shopping loop, an art and design route featuring galleries and makers, and a trail highlighting cocktails, craft beer and bites. Guests who visit and make a $20 purchase at four or more participating businesses during the weekend will be eligible to enter a prize drawing, encouraging exploration while supporting local businesses.
A full list of participating businesses will be announced later this month. For the latest news and event details, visit historicthirdward.org and follow @historicthirdward on Instagram and Facebook.
