A Better Wisconsin Together Applauds Governor Evers Record of Accomplishments and His Call to Keep Working for Wisconsin in State of the State Address
MADISON, Wis. — In his final State of the State address, Governor Evers celebrated seven years of delivering for working people and Wisconsin families, putting politics aside to work together on building a better state, and called for finishing the important work to lower costs, support public schools, and protect our environment in the waning days of the 2026 legislative session.
“From signing fairer state legislative maps into law, delivering one of the largest public school funding increases in state history, and cutting taxes for average working families, to always standing up for health care access, abortion and voting rights, clean water, and more, Gov. Evers knows a thing or two about putting politics aside to do what’s best for Wisconsinites.
“And he’s not done yet. Tonight, Gov. Evers demanded the Republican legislature get to work on an agenda that delivers for working people and families on critical priorities instead of getting out of town early for their own partisan political interests.
“What Gov. Ever’s laid out tonight is a stark contrast with what we’ve seen from likely GOP gubernatorial nominee Tom Tiffany and Republicans in the state legislature.
“Likely Republican gubernatorial nominee Tom Tiffany, who was recently endorsed by Donald Trump for his allegiance to his disastrous and massively unpopular agenda, has voted to keep Trump’s cost hiking tariff taxes, cut Medicaid, eliminate health care cost savings, and take food help away from low-income children all to deliver more tax giveaways for billionaires.
“And in the few days they’ve actually spent at work in session, legislative Republicans have chased misplaced priorities that distract and divide us while ignoring plans to help expand health care coverage and make it more affordable, keep our communities safe, and underfunded our public schools.
“And to all the people in Wisconsin who want to see their representatives work for them, know that your voice matters and now is the time to speak up. Call and email Tom Tiffany in Washington D.C. and you elected state representatives in Wisconsin and demand they get to work on our priorities.”
