Split/shift Taking Steps Toward Opening Grassroots Music and Arts Space in Milwaukee
The envisioned space will be built for the community, serving as a home for music, arts, workshops, events, and gatherings that encourage connection, creativity, learning, and shared purpose. Programming will reflect split/shift’s nonprofit mission and center on inclusive, community-led cultural expression.
As part of this next chapter, split/shift is actively looking for a space to call home. Anyone who has access to a potential space, knows of an available location, or can help make an introduction is encouraged to reach out.
“This is about more than just music. This is about creating something impactful together,” said split/shift. “A physical space gives us the opportunity to bring people together around music, art, workshops, and ideas in a way that feels accessible, collaborative, and rooted in community. It allows us to expand our programming, increase our community offerings, and truly unlock the organization’s full potential.”
split/shift is also grateful for its ongoing partnership with Low Rain, who has collaborated with split/shift on past pop-up events hosted at their space. These early collaborations helped establish the kind of creative, community-driven experiences that split/shift continues to build upon today.
The partnership will continue with future collaborative events, including tat/tunes 002 on March 15th, and through ongoing support for events and pop-ups hosted both at Low Rain’s location and within split/shift’s future space. This relationship reflects a shared commitment to creativity, local culture, and creating welcoming environments where music, art, and community intersect. “split/shift has always felt aligned with what we’re building at Low Rain – creative, inclusive, and deeply rooted in community. We’re proud to continue collaborating and to support the vision of a permanent space where music and art can bring people together in a meaningful way.” said Low Rain’s founder, Daniell Sobelman.
split/shift has also most recently partnered up with Discourse Coffee for their tats/tunes event series to bring craft coffee beverages to match their high energy AM DJ events. Discourse Coffee is a highly regarded speciality coffee shop that specializes in their creative coffee concoctions, and avant garde outlook on the usage of coffee, and tea.
split/shift is also grateful for the continued collaboration and support of High Dive, whose partnership has helped strengthen our presence within Milwaukee’s music and nightlife community. You can catch split/shift at High Dive 003 on January 24, continuing the shared effort to create intentional, community-centered music experiences.
