WI+H Movement and Embassy Center MKE Host National Day of Prayer Event
Gathering includes donations of needed supplies for Milwaukee’s unhoused
Milwaukee, WI — April 14, 2025 — In honor of the National Day of Prayer, WI+H and Embassy Center MKE announce a collaborative event being held on Thurs., May 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Embassy Center MKE, 3725 N. Sherman Blvd., Milwaukee. This year’s theme, “Praying, Rebuilding, Transforming,” invites community members to come together in unity, reflection, and prayer.
The National Day of Prayer is a time for people of all faiths to join in prayer for our nation, its leaders, and our community. The gathering will be filled with voices united in worship, local faith leaders who will lead prayer, and a special message of unity delivered by Rev. Ed Garvin, vice president of Convoy of Hope.
Event host and lead organizer Bishop Walter Harvey says, “In a time when our nation faces numerous challenges, the National Day of Prayer serves as a reminder of the strength found in collective prayer. It is an opportunity to come together as a community, fostering hope and solidarity. We believe that this gathering on May 1 has the power to bring about positive change and healing in our community and beyond.”
Attendees are requested to bring much-need personal care items including water, undergarments, socks, bars of soap or body wash, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrush, shampoo, and lotion for individuals experiencing homelessness.
In partnership with lead sponsor, Thrivent, donations collected will be shared with local organizations serving our unhoused population. Thrivent, a national financial services organization, is proud to sponsor this free event, affirming its commitment to supporting community initiatives that uplift and inspire.
