MADISON, Wis. — Last week, Governor Tony Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul filed a multi-state lawsuit to stop Elon Musk and anonymous Republican ‘DOGE’ political staffers from accessing Wisconsinites’ personal information like bank account and Social Security details. Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s actions are an invasion of the privacy of Wisconsinites who deserve to have their personal information protected.

While a federal judge has since temporarily blocked ‘DOGE’ from accessing American’s personal information, Wisconsin Democrats continue to hold their ground from Donald Trump’s attempts to undermine the rights of Wisconsinites.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: “Democratic Gov. Tony Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul are joining Wisconsin to a multi-state lawsuit seeking to block the Trump administration and billionaire Elon Musk from accessing restricted government records on millions of federal employees. In a statement, Evers said the lawsuit is aimed at protecting Wisconsinites’ personal details. ‘Wisconsinites expect the federal government to treat their Social Security numbers, bank account information, and other sensitive personal details with the highest level of protection and confidentiality — and that obligation doesn’t go out the window just because Elon Musk says it should,’ Evers said. ‘Giving political appointees access to our most personal information like this is illegal. That’s plain as day.’”

WFRV Local 5: “Gov. Tony Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul announced that Wisconsin is joining 19 other states in a lawsuit against the Trump administration. According to a press release from the Wisconsin Department of Justice, the lawsuit aims to stop the unauthorized release of Americans’ private information. The states claim that the Trump administration allowed Elon Musk and the ‘Department of Government Efficiency’ (DOGE) to access the U.S. Treasury Department’s payment system. This gives them access to sensitive data like bank account details and Social Security numbers. The lawsuit seeks to block this action, which could harm federal programs for healthcare, childcare, and other important services. The coalition is working to stop this policy that lets Musk and others access confidential information.”

Fox 6: “[…] According to the Wisconsin Department of Justice, the lawsuit aims to ‘stop the unauthorized disclosure of Americans’ private information and sensitive data.’ It also asserts that the Trump administration illegally provided Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency – or DOGE – unauthorized access to the U.S. Treasury Department’s central payment system. The Wisconsin DOJ said the payment system contains ‘sensitive personal information,’ including bank account details and Social Security numbers. The DOJ said access could ‘allow Musk and his team to block federal funds to states and programs providing health care, childcare, and other critical services.’

WISN 12 News: “Wisconsin is joining a lawsuit over Elon Musk’s access to the Treasury Department’s payment system. That system handles money for things like tax refunds and Social Security benefits. 20 states have now joined the case, claiming that level of access is against the law. Governor Tony Evers releasing this statement saying, ‘Giving political appointees access to our most personal information like this is illegal. That’s plain as day.’ He’s not the only Wisconsin democrat protesting Elon Musk.”
