2025 Mayor’s Design Awards Now Accepting Nominations
Nominations must be submitted by March 1, 2025
MILWAUKEE – The City of Milwaukee’s Department of City Development is currently accepting nominations for the 28th Annual Mayor’s Design Awards, which recognize design excellence and notable Milwaukee development projects.
“I am excited to celebrate 28 years of design excellence throughout the City of Milwaukee,” Mayor Cavalier Johnson said. “These projects showcase the power of urban design to build stronger communities and move Milwaukee forward. Every year, the work of all awardees sends a message that Milwaukee is a city on the rise. I encourage everyone to nominate remarkable projects that make Milwaukee a great place to live, work, and have fun.”
Award recipients are honored for adding value to their neighborhoods by restoring, constructing, or enhancing their properties in a way that respects the urban fabric and contributes to the character of their surroundings. Awardees range from large iconic buildings to small business storefronts and community-led public art installations. “Milwaukee is marking another banner year for outstanding developments,” Department of City Development Commissioner Lafayette Crump said. “The Mayor’s Design Awards honors the continued contribution of the design, development, and construction community. From vibrant corridors to meaningful public spaces, every year we celebrate the visionary minds and leaders that make Milwaukee a flourishing and prosperous city.”
Nominations are encouraged from the public, and individuals or organizations involved in the nominated project. Projects must be located in the City of Milwaukee and must have been completed (or nearly completed) any time before January 1, 2025.
Nominations must be submitted HERE by Saturday, March 1, 2025. Winners will be honored at an in-person award ceremony this spring. Additional information and answers to specific questions are available by email at mayorsdesignawards@milwaukee.gov or by visiting milwaukee.gov/MayorsDesignAwards.
