Milwaukee Public Market Holiday Programming

MILWAUKEE, WI – November 29, 2024 – The Milwaukee Public Market is celebrating the holiday season with a variety of community-centered events and activities. From gingerbread displays to a visit from Santa, the Market invites visitors to enjoy its holiday programming, many of which are free and open to the public.

 Small Business Saturday: Brew City Trunk Sale

On Saturday, Nov. 30 celebrate Small Business Saturday with the Brew City Trunk Sale, featuring deals on Milwaukee merchandise that can’t be beat. The sale will take place on the 2nd level of the Public Market from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Parade of Gingerbread Houses Presented by MATC

From December 6 through December 12, visitors can view a festive display of gingerbread houses created by students from the Milwaukee Area Technical College Bakery Program. These detailed creations will be on display in the Palm Garden at the Milwaukee Public Market, where visitors can vote for their favorites throughout the holiday season. Visitors to the Market can vote for their favorite house and place a bid to purchase, with proceeds from the winning bids going to benefit MATC.

Charlie Brown Tree Lot

The Charlie Brown Christmas Tree Lot will be located at the corner of St. Paul Avenue and Broadway, outside the Milwaukee Public Market. It will be open Nov. 30, Dec 7, and Dec. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering wild-harvested Balsam Firs from northern Wisconsin. Trees range in size and style, including “Charlie Brown-style” options and fuller natural-growth trees while supplies last.

Santa’s Christmas Cavalcade in partnership with Milwaukee Downtown

See Santa and Mrs. Claus on this festive route riding atop a vintage fire truck featuring local singer/songwriter Sarah Fierek performing original holiday tunes. The cavalcade departs from the Milwaukee Public Market’s Water Street entrance at 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 7 and Dec. 13, traveling through downtown Milwaukee. From the Market, the route travels east on Wisconsin Avenue to the lakefront and passes iconic downtown landmarks, including Pere Marquette Park, Cathedral Square Park, Zeidler Union Square, Catalano Square, and Light the Hoan.

Non-perishable food donations for Hunger Task Force will be collected before departure, with barrels located near the firetruck.

Breakfast with Santa

On Dec. 21, from 9 to 11 a.m., families will enjoy a festive breakfast with Santa at the Milwaukee Public Market, with proceeds benefiting the Penfield Children’s Center. While the breakfast portion is sold out, Santa will be available for photos and holiday wishes from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Market to the general public.

Holiday Cooking Classes

Cooking enthusiasts can join holiday-themed classes in the Madame Kuony Demonstration Kitchen at the Milwaukee Public Market:

  • Holiday Entertaining in Style with Staci Joers | Dec. 16, 5:30 p.m.
  • Italian Christmas Cookies with Michael Solovey | Dec. 21, 12 p.m.
  • From Sea to Sizzle: Surf & Turf with Chef Michael Solovey (Hands-On) | Dec. 27, 5 p.m.
