Milwaukee County Board Advances 2025 Budget Focused on Upstream Services
MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to adopt the 2025 County Budget. The amended budget reflects a commitment to equity, community services, and sustainable investments that prioritize the health and well-being of Milwaukee County residents.
Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson shared the following statement:
“We worked to elevate Milwaukee County’s vision of becoming the healthiest county in the state with targeted improvements that reflect community priorities. This budget strengthens critical community services by restoring funding for the Right to Counsel program for residents facing eviction and provides support for MATC students through the FAST Fund. We’ve also invested additional funds to revitalize County parks, support seasonal staff, and advanced projects like the ‘Domes Reimagined’ initiative. Finally, the budget addresses transit safety with measures to protect transit operators and regular reporting on paratransit services.
“I am grateful for the Finance Committee, especially Finance Chair Willie Johnson, Jr. and Vice Chair Steve F. Taylor for their leadership, and the collaboration of the entire Board in helping us achieve these outcomes.”
The 2025 Adopted Budget sets the Milwaukee County property tax levy at $298,624,927, reducing it by over $1 million from the originally recommended budget.
