Milwaukee Wine Academy Expands to Offer Spanish Wine Scholar Program
MWA becomes only wine school in the Midwest teaching this certification

MILWAUKEE (October 30, 2024) – Milwaukee Wine Academy (MWA) is proud to announce its inaugural Spanish Wine Scholar™ education program for those interested in becoming experts in wines from the region. This makes MWA the only wine school in the Midwest to teach this certification and the first Wine Scholar Guild Approved Program Provider (APP) in Wisconsin.
“Given the high quality of Milwaukee’s food and wine scene, having advanced wine education will only make our city more attractive to wine professionals. Being the first wine school in Wisconsin with a Wine Scholar Guild program also means that professionals and enthusiasts from surrounding states may come to Milwaukee to pursue education with us,” said Dr. Jeffrey K. Despite its lengthy history of grape growing and wine production, Spain is still relatively unfamiliar to most students of wine. However, many of the world’s finest red grapes are indigenous to Spain, including Tempranillo, Garnacha (Grenache), and Monastrell (Mourvèdre). Additionally, Spain is home to one of the oldest wines in the world: Sherry.

The Milwaukee Wine Academy invites interested wine lovers to register for the Spanish Wine Scholar course! The program is a 9-week course & exam beginning Saturday, January 18, 2025. Dr. Coleman, SWS, will teach classes on Saturdays at Scout Wine Merchants in Shorewood.
