KENOSHA, WIS. – Uline, North America’s leading distributor of shipping, industrial, and packaging materials, is supporting the development of its Warehouse employees in Kenosha County with an English as a Second Language (ESL) pilot program.

The 8-week elective program offers weekly opportunities for Uline Warehouse employees to build their confidence and become more proficient at and comfortable speaking English. Classes are open to night shift Warehouse employees and include a weekly two-hour session for those interested in enhancing their classroom learning. Beyond the classroom, warehouse employees can continue their learning through Rosetta Stone subscriptions. Some warehouse managers are using the service to learn Spanish.

“As our business grows and we seek bilingual employees for our Warehouse and Customer Service teams, we’re committed to providing the ongoing learning and support needed to ensure everyone feels welcome, can effectively communicate, and ultimately advance in their career,” commented VP of Branch Operations Travis Szwast. “It is our hope that all our employees can learn and grow together as our Spanish-speaking coworkers establish themselves with our company.”

Some of the employees participating in the program relocated to the area from Mexico and Colombia, where many completed their education in Spanish and worked in fields such as healthcare, engineering, accounting and business. Since moving to the United States, these Uline employees are now navigating the professional world in a different language, and learning English will help employees grow both personally and professionally in this new environment.

“The enthusiasm for this opportunity is great to see, and the engagement in the program is high. Classes are scheduled in an 8-week cycle, and employees continue to show up, indicating the value of this opportunity,” said Sr. Director of Redistribution Wade Goff, “We are doing everything we can to support their conversational skills, and it’s exciting to hear the progress so far.”

The ESL program at Uline demonstrates the company’s commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace where every team member has the opportunity to thrive and integrate into a new professional environment.

Recognized by employees on Forbes Annual List of America’s Best Top Employers, Uline stands out as a stable employer with competitive pay, industry leading benefits, including the ESL Program, and opportunities for growth and career advancement.
