China Lights Opens Friday, September 13 Celebrates Seven Years at Boerner Botanical Gardens with “Year of the Dragon” Theme

MILWAUKEE, WI – September 10, 2024 – China Lights, the popular lantern festival, will be celebrating seven years at Milwaukee County Park’s Boerner Botanical Gardens, when it opens to the public on Friday, September 13, 2024. The theme this year is ‘Year of The Dragon” and will feature an amazing array of all new lanterns and interactive elements, along with a brand new dragon, which is making its debut in the United States. China Lights presented by Tri-City Bank will run through October 27, 2024 (closed
Mondays).
- Palace of Heaven – 48 foot tall display, housing the new dragon
- LongLong (means dragon in Chinese) – dragon mascot, which can be found throughout the show
- Interactive elements throughout the show, including the lantern group Cape Leadwort – guests can control the brightness of the flowers
- Zodiac lanterns, flower tunnel, and
- Enhanced interactive activities at the playground.

professional entertainers on the We-Energies stage each night. Patrons can also enjoy a variety of food and beverage selections throughout the gardens.

Admission
Tickets are available online at ChinaLights.org for a specific date and time. There are three time slots for tickets each night – 5:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.. A limited number of walk-up tickets will be available at the box office at the festival entrance from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Child (3-11years): $16 weekday, $18 weekend

Parking
Paid Parking Lot
Paid parking is in the paved lot nearest the China Lights entrance. Tickets for this
lot may be purchased at the door ONLY on a first come first serve basis. The same parking lot will also be available on a first-come, first-served basis to people with disabilities who have state-issued disabled parking or disabled Veteran parking license plates, or the state-issued disabled parking identification card.
Other Parking Lots
First-come, first-served, complimentary parking will be available at fully lighted parking
lots within Whitnall Park. Complimentary shuttle service will serve the outer lots. Designated drop-off areas for authorized taxis/uber and motorcoaches will also be located near the China Lights entrance. Additionally, guests can park at the Whitnall Park beer garden after 6:30 p.m. – the lot is lit and paved and a free shuttle will run from this area from 6:30-10:30 p.m.
