Cream City Foundation Selects 20 Students for 2024 LGBTQ+ Scholarship Program

MILWAUKEE, WI – Cream City Foundation is excited to announce the recipients of the 2024 Scholarship Program after another strong year of applications. This year twenty (20) Milwaukee-area LGBTQ+ students were selected to each receive a $2,500 scholarship totaling $50,000 in awards.

The program continues to be a hallmark area of Cream City Foundation’s commitment to continue to build equity and prosperity within the LGBTQ+ community and investment in the future LGBTQ+ leaders in our area.

“It’s amazing to sit down and read through so many great applications with energized community volunteers. I’m excited for our winners and can’t wait to see them make a difference in the LGBTQ+ community.” said Emmett Roehr, Cream City Foundation Board Member and Scholarship Committee member.

  • Alaska Grey | University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee | Bachelor’s of Letters and Science
  • Sal Prado | University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee | Bachelor’s of Global Studies and Japanese

The 2024 Scholarship Program selection committee consists of community members. The committee included Aja Aviles-Soto, Rini Galgan, Camrin LaFond, Sangeeta Rajput, Barbara Henderson Farrell and Krystal Livingston.

Cream City Foundation would like to thank Will Radler, Milwaukee Gay Sports Network (MGSN), Courage MKE, Israel Ramón, David Marstellar, Marian Ketterer, Jason Foil, Ted Wentzel and the John M Cowles LGBT Education Fund at Cream City Foundation for their support as well as the hundreds of other Cream City Foundation donors. ABOUT THE CREAM CITY FOUNDATION LGBTQ+ SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Cream City Foundation LGBTQ+ Scholarship Program was founded in 2015 to support LGBTQ+ student leaders in Southeastern Wisconsin. Scholarships can be used for any post-secondary education at the undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate level. Since 2015 the program has awarded over $270,000 to local students.

ABOUT CREAM CITY FOUNDATION

Cream City Foundation holds the distinction as one of the oldest LGBTQ+ focused foundations in the country having been founded in 1982 with $500 in seed funds. Since then, the foundation has granted over $1.6MM to fund LGBTQ+ health, equity & prosperity in SE Wisconsin. In 2024 Cream City Foundation announced a new partnership with the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, offering significant growth of the foundation and stability for future investments and operations.
