Common Council to Hold Public Inauguration Ceremonies

Public inauguration ceremonies for the 15 members of the Milwaukee Common Council and other elected city officials will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at City Hall, Common Council President José G. Pérez announced today. The City Hall ceremonies on Tuesday (ticketed because of strict room capacity limitations) are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.

The inauguration will follow the 2024-2028 charter meeting of the Common Council, scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the third floor Council Chamber at City Hall, 200 E. Wells St. The Common Council will select a Common Council President and appoint the City Clerk during the charter meeting.

The public inauguration ceremonies will also take place in the Council Chamber, and will include the swearing in of citywide elected officials including the City Attorney, City Comptroller, City Treasurer and the 15 members of the Common Council. The event will include performances by local singers and musicians, as well as brief addresses by the Common Council President, Common Council members and the other elected officials.

Downtown parking is limited and residents and guests are reminded that on-street parking spaces can be difficult to come by in the areas adjacent to City Hall. Public parking lots/ramps are available at the SW corner of Kilbourn and Water (Milwaukee Center), and at 1000 N. Water St.

On April 16, we begin our work for a better Milwaukee.”

The official program for the event will be released by the City Clerk’s Office on Monday, April 15.

The ceremonies will be televised live on the City Channel (channel 25 on Spectrum Cable and channel 99 on AT&T U-Verse in the City of Milwaukee) and via streaming video on the city website at www.city.milwaukee.gov/Channel25.
