Pfister Hotel chosen for this year’s Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival ornament
Celebrating 130 years, the hotel joins a collection of downtown’s most revered landmarks depicted in the annual ornament cast in pewter by local artist Andrew Schumann.
MILWAUKEE (November 20, 2023) – Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21 announces the iconic Pfister Hotel as the 23rd edition of the Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival ornament series.
Built in 1893, the Pfister Hotel has been a revered staple in Milwaukee for more than a century, offering four-star luxury accommodations to visitors and guests. It features the largest Victorian art collection of any hotel in the world.
Andrew Schumann returned as the artist of the series, designing the concept and working with Milwaukee Downtown and the Pfister Hotel to identify the best view of the hotel to be featured on the ornament.“Andrew has been working with Milwaukee Downtown for over a decade, capturing the beauty of Milwaukee’s most iconic buildings,” said Beth Weirick, CEO of Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21. “We are thrilled to honor the rich history of this legendary hotel and landmark in our downtown.”
The 23rd installment of the Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival ornament can be purchased for $19.95 at Milwaukee Downtown, 301 W. Wisconsin Ave.; Kloiber Jewelers, 777 E. Wisconsin Ave.; Historic Milwaukee, 235 E. Michigan St. and Urban Milwaukee, 755 N. Milwaukee St.
Previous editions featuring buildings like the War Memorial Center, Marcus Performing Arts Center, Fiserv Forum, and the Milwaukee Gaslight Building are also available at www.milwaukeedowntown.com/bid-events/ornament. Past years ornaments are $24.95 plus shipping and handling.
The ornament is just one aspect of the Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival, an annual display of lights, coordinated by Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21, that transforms three downtown parks into winter wonderland scenes – “Community Spirit Park” at Cathedral Square Park, sponsored by Madison Medical Affiliates and Ideal Property Management; “¡Felices Fiestas!” at Pere Marquette Park and “Santa’s Celebration Square powered by We Energies” at Zeidler Union Square. The festival also includes street decorations along three downtown thoroughfares, including Wisconsin Avenue, which will feature an 18-block stretch of chandeliers suspended above each intersection. For more information on the Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival presented by Johnson Financial Group, visit www.milwaukeeholidaylights.com.
