As part of Black History Month, Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs is hosting the annual Black History Month Read-In that will take place on Monday, February 27 at 5:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Martin Luther King Library (310 W. Locust St.), and parents and children of all ages are invited to attend. Alderwoman Coggs, a library board member, is sponsoring the read-in in conjunction with the National African-American Read-In, a program that promotes diversity in literature in partnership with the Milwaukee Public Library.

The read-in will feature short, heartfelt stories about African-American culture and history, as well as stories written by African-American authors. Alderwoman Coggs will be joined by Treasurer Spencer Coggs and other guest readers to share these stories with attendees. The Black History Month Read-In is free and open to everyone.

“Black History Month embodies a variety of cultural and historical aspects, and the annual read-in is a great way to share these compelling stories that represent our past, present, and future,” said Alderwoman Coggs. “I would encourage interested families to join us Monday for a fantastic event filled with a wide array of diverse stories.”
