MPL to Host Community Conversations Seeking Input on Library Usage
City Librarian Joan Johnson and Milwaukee Public Library staff will hold the first in a series of Community Conversations on Monday, January 23 from 6-7 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Branch Library, 310 W. Locust St. The intent of the community meetings is for residents to share what is most important to them about their libraries and what services they’d like to see.
“We have had tremendous success building awareness of the modern library and all it has to offer residents on our social media platforms, with our education and outreach activities and with our program offerings,” said Johnson. “Now, we want to hear directly from residents about what is most important to them. I’m looking forward to a robust discussion so that we can focus on what is most valuable to residents as we prepare for our future in 2024 and beyond.”
The public is invited to join one or more of these informal conversations to discuss the importance of the library in their neighborhood and the ways residents use their branch library for checking out materials, accessing technology, and attending programs. Media attendance and coverage is also welcome and encouraged. To schedule an interview in advance, please reply to this email or text/call 414-793-4543.
