MILWAUKEE — Katherine Gehl and Austin Ramirez, cofounders of Democracy Found, will be the featured guests at an upcoming virtual “On the Issues with Mike Gousha,” Thursday, April 8.

The video will be available at 12:15 p.m. on the Marquette Law School website.

Democracy Found is pushing for changes to election rules, most notably implementation of “Final Five Voting,” which would replace the current system of party primaries and plurality voting. Final Five Voting features open primaries and ranked-choice voting in congressional and senate races. In this virtual event, Gehl and Ramirez will discuss the current political system in this country, their prescription for changing it, and how much popular and political support exists for these changes.

Gehl is the coauthor of “The Politics Industry: How Political Innovation Can Break Gridlock and Save Our Democracy.” She is the founder of the Institute for Political Innovation and the former CEO of Gehl Foods. Ramirez is the CEO of Husco International. He served as a White House Fellow in the National Economic Council of both the Obama and Trump administrations.

The virtual “On the Issues” is available to all members of the general public.

Through public programming such as the Marquette Law School Poll, debates featuring candidates in significant political races, Gousha’s “On the Issues” conversations with newsmakers, public lectures by leading scholars, conferences on significant issues of public importance, and the work of its Lubar Center for Public Policy Research and Civic Education, Marquette Law School serves as the region’s leading venue for civil discourse about law and public policy matters.
