Expanded Vaccine Eligibility for Hard-Hit Zip Codes in District 12
MILWAUKEE – County Supervisor Sylvia Ortiz-Velez wants residents of District 12 to know that Milwaukee County has recently expanded vaccine eligibility for residents aged 18+ who live in zip codes ranked highly on the CDC’s social vulnerability index. Those zip codes include: 53204, 53205, 53206, 53209, 53215, 53216, 53218, 53223, 53224 & 53233.
“Due to racial disparities, folks living in these zip codes have suffered greatly from COVID-19. I want to thank the dedicated Milwaukee County staff for finding a way to expand vaccine eligibility by targeting these areas with extra services and direct support,” said Supervisor Ortiz-Velez. “With this expanded eligibility, it is my hope that more people will get vaccinated. Encourage your friends and family to get vaccinated if they are eligible. It’s safe, effective, and provides us the fastest path back to our normal Wisconsin way of life.”
Vaccines will be administered at Kosciuszko Community Center, 2201 S. 7th St., Milwaukee, WI 53215, by Milwaukee County’s Office of Emergency Management-EMS CORE Team.
Eligible individuals can sign up for a vaccination appointment at CovidMKE.com. Once an appointment time is confirmed, individuals are asked to arrive no more than 15 minutes ahead of scheduled appointment times. A confirmation number, which will be provided to registrants via email, is required to be vaccinated.
The ZIP Code Vaccination Program uses the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Social Vulnerability Index to ensure that individuals residing in the most underserved areas of the County have equitable access to the COVID-19 vaccine.
