Keep an eye on the back of Milwaukee County Transit System buses to get the first glimpse of Friends of MADACC’s 45% Campaign. During June, July, and August, pit bull type dogs are available for adoption for a lowered fee of $45 to raise awareness that 45% of the homeless dogs coming into MADACC every year are pit bull breeds deserving of a loving home. MADACC will be hosting outdoor pit bull adoption events every Saturday this summer from 10am-1pm starting on June 7th, and the $45 fee includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip, and more.
The campaign is hosted by Friends of MADACC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the welfare of Milwaukee County’s homeless animals housed at the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission’s (MADACC) facility. MADACC currently rescues and assures safe, temporary shelter, veterinary and humane care for nearly 13,000 stray, unwanted, abandoned, mistreated and injured animals each year, more than any other animal control shelter in Wisconsin.
Friends of MADACC is a network of volunteers who work to enhance the quality of life of animals at MADACC. Its goal is to increase the number of animals adopted from MADACC, provide enhanced enrichment while at MADACC, and prevent animal cruelty and neglect in the community.
